The Lord has called our Mother's name and she has answered His call. Arnola Foster Cornelius, affectionately called "Nola" by her family and friends went on to glory on February 28, 2008, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia, at the glorious age of 74. Nola was born in New Albany, MS, August 22, 1933, to the union of Dunbar Foster and Nettie Hazel Givhan. The family relocated to Beloit, WI when she was approximately two (2) years of age. She attended South Beloit and Beloit Public School systems graduating in 1952 from Beloit Memorial High School. Nola was active in Drama, Forensics and Junior Theatre. She loved creative writing, poetry and worked on the school newsletter. Because of her compassion for others, she attended St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Rockford, IL. She then married Clarence "Chic" Cornelius and later moved to Muskegon, Michigan. While living in Muskegon, she deferred her dreams of nursing to support her family. She was employed at Howmet Misco Corporation from which she retired after 28 years of service. "Mommie" loved the Lord with all her heart and was extremely active in her church. She was a licensed Missionary, served on the Nurse's Guild, Chairperson of the Women's Department, member of the Sewing Circle, was a faithful and committed prayer warrior and a devoted Mother on the Mother's Board. The church was her life's work, along with her children, of which she had no greater joy. Our Mom has blessed many people with her bountiful talents, which included: creative writing/poetry, photography, and anointed dramatic speaking. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, playing various instruments (especially her beloved guitar), home crafts such as: designing/sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, as well as hat and doll-making. She spearheaded the church's membership directory taking the pictures and soliciting sponsorship donations. She wrote, produced, directed and starred in the church play "Sister Hatfield". More than anything, she relished the times that her family was able to be together. She leaves to cherish those wonderful memories: Sheree Paulette (Danny) Davis of Rockford, IL; Kevin (Schenavia) Cornelius of Muskegon; Stephanie Cornelius of Kennesaw, GA; Brett Cornelius of Parker, CO; Patrick (Angela) Cornelius of San Jose, CA; and Lea Waller of Kennesaw, GA. She was an anointed prayer warrior and woman of God. Her children knew, depended and counted on her prayers. She prayed us through many challenges in our lives. We thank God for our praying mother, the epitome of what it means to be a true Prayer Warrior! She also cherished the loving relationships with her brothers: Paul (Roberta) Foster; Billy Foster; Matthews (Debra) Foster; Romus (Georgia) Foster; Tyrone (Nailah) Matthews; Jerome (Debra) Matthews; and sisters: Peggy (Ira) Anderson; and Linda Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Davied, and sister Robbie "Evelyn". She also leaves to cherish 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and many close life-long friends who will miss her dearly. The family will be gathering at 960 Stevens Street, Muskegon. Visitation with family will be Thursday 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Toombs Funeral Home and the Celebration of her life on Friday, 11:00a.m. at the Fresh Anointing Church of God In Christ where Eld. Tyrone Matthews will be officiating.
