Mrs. Arlene D. Barry, age 92, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017. She was born in Stryker, Ohio on October 13, 1924 to Earl & Luella (Ehrmin) Peugeot and married Robert Barry on June 11, 1949. Mrs. Barry had been employed as a Music Teacher for Reeths Puffer Public Schools for over 30 years. Arlene was a member of Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church and Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP). In her retirement, Arlene played piano at the church, for the Alzheimer Unit at Sanctuary at the Oaks and accompanied choirs, solos and hundreds of students in ensemble competitions. She was an avid U of M Fan who liked to make applesauce, jam, potato salad and baked beans, loved to read and volunteered as the unofficial librarian at Sanctuary at the Oaks. SURVIVORS Sons, Rev. Gordon (Susan) Barry of Belding and Michael Barry of Muskegon; daughter, Deborah DeVoe of Grand Rapids; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1996. SERVICE Saturday, July 8, 2017, 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church with Rev. Carl Franzon officiating. Interment in Fruitland Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL: Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church or Muskegon Rescue Mission.
