Arild Nielsen

Mr. Arild E. Nielsen, age 94, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014. He was born in Nysted, NE on November 1, 1919 to F. Clarey & Juliane (Hansen) Nielsen and served his country in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Arild married the former Margaret Botzenhardt on June 14, 1952. He was a graduate of Grand View College, River Falls State Teachers College and University of Wisconsin and taught in Iowa and Kansas prior to coming to Muskegon in 1955 where he retired from Muskegon Community College. He was a long term member of Central Lutheran Church and then St. Mark Lutheran Church. SURVIVORS Son, Alan Nielsen of Norton Shores; daughter, Karen (John) Wells of Traverse City; niece, Asta (Arlen) Twedt of Ankeny, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in 2003; parents and sister, Ardis Petersen. SERVICE Wednesday, August 27, 2014, 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Gilson officiating.
