Ardis J. Melville

Mrs. Ardis Jean Melville, age 92, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019. She was born in Muskegon, MI on December 18, 1926 to Clifford & Caroline (Wiser) Furman Sr. and married James Melville on August 31, 1946. Mrs. Melville had been employed at the Twin Lake Post Office for 32 years until retiring as Postmaster. Ardis was a member of Twin Lake United Methodist Church where she was very active and the oldest member and a 57 year member of the Holton American Legion Auxiliary Post 397 and Twin Lake Friendly Circle. She was strong in her faith and family and loved Bingo, puzzles, casinos, playing Cribbage and the cabin. SURVIVORS Daughter, Linda Barnard; son-in-law, Donald Petrie Jr.; grandchildren, James (Sondrea) Petrie, Dana (Robert) Hayes, Matt (Heather) Barnard, Erik (Heather) Barnard, Rachael (Mason) Brown, Donald Petrie III; 16 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; sister, Alda Martin; sisters-in-law, Salley Furman & Joan Furman; special friend, Marion Slater. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004; daughter, Carolyn Petrie in 2017; son-in-law, Daniel Barnard in 2016; siblings, Clifford, Jr., Elizabeth, Genevieve, Donna, Clarence, Douglas, Carol & Ken. SERVICE Friday, May 24, 2019, 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service at Twin Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Dye officiating. Interment in Twin Lake Cemetery.
