Anthony M Yonkers, age 96, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008. He was born on February 13, 1912 in Muskegon, MI to the late Morris H. and Kate (Snowfleet) Yonkers. Anthony married Rose Drost; they were married for over 60 years, and she preceded him in death in April of 1999. Anthony was an active member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. He was known as the coffee man at their annual chicken dinner. He loved gardening and had his own vegetable garden. He sold his vegetables at a stand in his yard. He had been employed by Dresser Industries, Inc. for many years before retiring. Survivors include his five children, Dr. Anthony (Mary) Yonkers of Nebraska, Lorraine (Larry) Gallaci, of Branson, MO, David (Jean) Yonkers of L'anse, MI, Jean (Jerry) Slovinski of Muskegon, and Christine (William) Palsrock of Washington; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Angie Drost and Agnes Rogalla, both of Muskegon. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18th, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17th at Ever Rest Funeral Home, 6-8 p.m. with at Rosary Service to begin at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.
