RIBBINK, VANDONGEN ANNA, MRS. Grand Haven, MI Anna VanDongen Ribbink, 100, went to be with her Lord on February 8, 2003. Anna was born on August 29, 1902 in Sand Lake, MI to William & Katie Kieft VanDongen. The family moved to Grand Haven when Anna was a young girl & she married James Ribbink in 1925. Anna worked at the local glove factory as a young woman. After marriage she was a homemaker while her children were growing up. She worked as a cook at Grand Haven High School in the late 50's & later cooked at Christian Haven Home until she retired. She was always active in church work at First Reformed Church & in her later years at Hope Reformed Church, having been active in the Womens Guild at each church. She belonged to a sewing group that met in the members homes & made hundreds of quilts for International Aid. The ladies usually sewed in the morning, had lunch together, & sewed again until mid-afternoon. She had her whole basement set up as a sewing room. Anna was very versatle & would tackle any job, large or small, simple or difficult. When the family moved out to the cottage on the bayou in the late 40's she did much of the remodeling herself, moving walls, placing windows, working on the house while her husband was at work. She adored everyone around her & would do anything for her family & friends. Nothing pleased her more than to ''babysit'' her grandchildren when they were young.
