Mrs. Anna G. Japenga, age 89, passed away Saturday evening at Brookhaven Care Facility following a short illness. She was born in Muskegon on April 6, 1918, the third of 7 children to John and Zofia (Stankiewicz) Lappo. Anna was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a former member of the Happy Wanderers (TTCM). She married Mr. Robert O. Japenga in Muskegon on January 20, 1950 and he survives her along with: two daughters, Bonnie M. (Robert) Muttart and Carol A. (Larry) Kwolek, both of Muskegon; two sons, Edward J. Japenga and David L. (Sherry) Japenga, both of Muskegon; four grandchildren, Christine Sawyer, Julia Caswell, Thomas Kwolek and Deanna Morse; a sister, Kay Raap of Muskegon and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: grandson, Scott Berg in 2006; step-son, Robert Japenga, Jr. in 2007 and five brothers, Leo, Edward, Mitch, John and Ted Lappo. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at, Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. She will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery. VISITATION: Wednesday, 5-8 P.M. at the Lee Chapel.
