Mrs. Ann Mae Sturgeon, age 91, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015. She was born in Ironwood, Michigan on March 16, 1924 to Leo & Anna (Johnson) O'Callaghan. She came to Muskegon in 1943 and was employed at the General Telephone Co. When World War II began, she moved to Detroit and was employed in the offices of General Motors. She was married to Lloyd Sturgeon in Muskegon on November 12, 1943. Beginning in 1962, Ann was employed in the union offices at the CIO Hall and retired from UAW Local 539 in 2006 after 37 years of service. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher for many years. Mrs. Sturgeon was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 599, the Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a retired member of the Office and Professional Employees International Union, AFLCIO Local 459. Ann enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, and most of all, professional sports and never missed any Tiger or Lion's games. Since childhood she was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and was one of the many Packer fan-owners. SURVIVORS Ann is survived by her children, Sue (Joe) Siwicke, Carol (Ronald) Gerritsen, James (Anne) Sturgeon, Kathleen (Darrel) Sullivan-Brown, Paulette Sturgeon, Jeffrey (Kathy) Sturgeon and Rebecca (Terry) Tripp; eighteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; the Sabec children & O'Callaghan nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Tim (Frances), John (Margaret), Thomas (Geraldine), James (Eva), and her only sister, Marianne (Al) Sabec. FUNERAL MASS Monday, July 27, 2015, 11:00 am and visitation one hour prior to the service at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Vu officiating. Interment in Norton Cemetery.
