Ann J. Smith

Mrs. Ann J. (Decker) Smith, age 92, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 at University Park Nursing Home. She was born April 4, 1916 in Muskegon to Charles and Martha (Yonkman) Decker and lived in the area most of her life. On April 4, 1955, she married Francis G. Smith in Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1995. Ann had worked as a sales representative for Avon Cosmetics for 43 years and retired in 2003. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and playing the organ. Ann was a long-time member of Mona Shores Baptist Church. SURVIVORS include her son, Kurt (Bambi) Smith of Montague; 1 grandson, Patrick Smith of Montague; 1 brother, Ray (Bev) Decker of Roosevelt Park; 1 sister, Dorothy Schmieding of Muskegon; 1 brother-in-law, Russell Buitendorp of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, John Decker and Albert Decker; and 1 sister, Marian Buitendorp. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Mona Shores Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Siefert officiating. VISITATION with Ann's family will be one hour prior to the service, 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church. INTERMENT will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
