Andrew Hegedus

Mr. Andrew L. Hegedus, age 95, passed away Friday, June 14, 2007 at the home of his son in Montague surrounded by his family. He was born in Muskegon Hts. on December 14, 1911 to John and Mary (Hriczo) Hegedus. On September 23, 1933, he married Alizbeta "Betty" Repta, who preceded him in death in 1966. In 1981, he married Martha Sholtiss, who passed away in 2003. Mr. Hegedus was a tool maker and retired from Sealed Power Corp in 1968. He moved to Zepherhills, FL in 1970 and resided there until 2002 when he returned to Muskegon. He restored antique gas engines and built a Model T Ford from parts. He enjoyed antique engine shows and belonged to the West Michigan Old Engine Club. Even though he was legally blind, he loved to work with wood and used a table saw with great skill. He made many lawn ornaments for his friends and family. Just two days prior to his final illness, he was sawing firewood with a chainsaw. He leaves to miss him, 1 son, Andrew (Nancy) Hegedus, Jr. of Montague; grandsons, Andrew III of Montague and Steven (Debbie) Hegedus of Hart, MI; 2 great-granddaughters, Lauren and Madison Hegedus of Hart, MI; 1 step-son, John (Darlene) Sholtis; 3 step-granddaughters, Lacey, Natalie, Ashley and husband Jon, with their son Cason all of Susquehanna, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Lee Funeral Home, 2812 Fifth St., with Rev. Gerald Hagans officiating. VISITATION: Tuesday 4-7 p.m. INTERMENT: Mona View Cemetery. MEMORIALS: West Michigan Old Engine Club and V.N.S. Hospice.
