Mr. Alvin F. "Al" Baker, age 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. He was born in Muskegon, MI on August 15, 1919 to Jacob & Florence (Fritzma) Baker and served his country in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He married the former Henrietta "Rita" Dykstra on May 22, 1942 and had been a Cost Estimator at Harbor Industries for 17 years until retiring in 1984. He was an active member, Elder and Deacon at his church and was on the Christian Care Board. Al enjoyed woodworking and will be greatly missed, especially by his children and grandchildren. SURVIVORS Daughters, Janice (Greg) Pierce of Fruitport, Bonnie DuPrey of Norton Shores; son, James (Laurie) Baker of CA; grandchildren, Jennifer Swinburne, Christopher Pierce, Matthew DuPrey, Shawn Baker, C.J. Baker; great granddaughter, Ella Rose DuPrey; sister, Ruth Styx of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his wife and brothers, Gerald and Raymond. SERVICE Sunday, May 4, 2014, 2:00 PM and visitation one hour prior to the service at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Rev. Craig Apel officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIAL: Hospice of Michigan or Muskegon Rescue Mission.
