Alicia Frances Gilewski

Alicia F. Gilewski passed away on July 23, 2023, at the age of 76 after a short and valiant battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. She will be laid to rest with her son Alex who preceded her in death. She is survived by her siblings, Cindy and Earl; her children Jason (Beth) and Sea (Bryan); her granddaughters, Claudia and Rebekah; and her step-children and grandchildren, Laura, Beth, Ryan, and Iris. Alicia was a graduate of St. Stanislaus High School in Hamtramck.

Alicia will be most remembered for her willingness to give of her time. She was active with the Friends of the Library for the Spring Lake District Library and the Lighthouse Quilt Guild. She was a skilled quilter and gardener. She earned a Master Gardener certificate through Michigan State University and volunteered over 500 hours with the program. A special friend and confidante, her wisdom and perspective were valued by many. Alicia's pets held a special place in her heart.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 18, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Otsego, Michigan, at 11am. There will be a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Bonaventure Capuchin Monastery in Detroit, Michigan, or the Friends of the Library at the Spring Lake District Library.
