PHILLIPS, MR. ALFRED Spring Lake, Formerly of Grand Haven Mr. Alfred E. Phillips, age 79, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005. He was born in Portland, OR on August 18, 1926 to David and Nettie Barnett Phillips and married the former Henrietta Vanderstelt on March 11, 1948. He served his country in the US Army in the Philippines during WWII. Mr. Phillips had been a woodworker and craftsman at Gordon Laughhead and Story & Clark Piano Factories until 1972. He owned Cobbs Chicken Take Out for 18 years. In 1990 he established Confidential Paper Shredding. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spring Lake, CBMC and of Maranatha Bible and Missionary Conference. He enjoyed tennis, golf, reading, walking, Bible study and teaching. SURVIVORS Wife, of 57 years, Henrietta; 2 sons, Roger Barbara Phillips of Holland, MI and Kendal Tambrete Phillips of Gaylord, MI; daughter, Beverly Warren VanKampen of Spring Lake, MI; 7 grandchildren, Andrea Joseph Masvero, Tarah Brian Sproul, Joel Julie Phillips, Jonathan, Aren, Brandon and Alysia Phillips; great grandchildren, Josiah and Jeremiah Masvero, 2 brothers, Dewey Anna Phillips and David Bonnie Phillips. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Roy and Orville Phillips and a sister, Clara Salisbury. SERVICE Friday, October 14, 2005, 11:00 AM at Clock Funeral Home, Grand Haven, with Rev. Doug Bytwerk officiating. Interment at Lake Forest Cemetery. VISITATION Thursday, 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home, Grand Haven. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers donations may be given to First Baptist Church of Spring Lake.
