Mrs. Gizella Alex, age 87, passed away Sunday October 1, 2006 in Muskegon, MI. She was born February 16, 1919 in Muskegon, MI to Michael and Mary (Gulyban) Galajda. She resided in Muskegon all of her life. The former Gizella Galajda married Arthur Birr in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1956, she then married John Alex in 1969 in Muskegon, MI, he preceded her in death in 1992. Mrs. Alex was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She is survived by 2 sons, William (Mary) Birr of N. Muskegon, MI and Gerald (Donna) Birr of Scottville, MI; 2 sisters, Betty Emlaw and Rose Potter both of Muskegon, MI. A sister-in-law, Helen Newberry of Hesperia, MI. Grandchildren, Michael (Tanya) Birr, David (Lori) Birr, Angela (John) Cisneros, Lisa (Paul) Hinze and Jeffrey Birr. 8 great grandchildren. 4 step children, Joe (Mary Jo) Alex, John (Joy) Alex, Steven (Marge) Alex and Beverly (Jerry) Bice. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, Steve Galajda; 1 sister, Mary Chamberlain. FUNERAL MASS: Wednesday 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Olson officiating. Burial St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION: Tuesday 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. And.5 hour prior to the mass at the church. ROSARY: Tuesday evening 7:30 P.M. MEMORIALS: St. Thomas Catholic Church.
