Alburtle Edward Harris

Harris, Mr. Alburtle Edward Whitehall, Michigan Mr. Alburtle Edward Harris Jr., age 86, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021. He was born in Smyrna, MI on November 13, 1934 to Alburtle & LaVina Eileen (Mays) Harris. Al graduated from Greenville High School in 1952 and served his country in the US Army. He married the former Sally Bissell and had four children. After the Army he graduated from Ferris State and got a degree in metallurgy. He lived for a time in Greenville, MI before his career took him to North Muskegon, MI and on to Marshall, MI subsequently took him to Holly, MI, and then to Whitehall where he was Plant Manager at Howmet. His career over the years saw him working in Florida, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. After he retired he worked for Owasippe Scout Reservation. He was Commander at the Whitehall American Legion and later a member of the Honor Guard where he remained active until his death. There was rarely a morning where you couldn't find him having his coffee at the Legion. Al looked forward to and enjoyed his Sunday morning walks with his son and dogs. SURVIVORS Children, Beth (Chris) Austin, Dale (Sharon) Harris, Linda (Joe) Kelly and Michael Harris; grandchildren, Anna (Tony II) Camargo, Sara (Brandon) Armstrong, Jacob Harris and Jessica Harris; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Phillip Harris and Eldon (Ruth) Harris; long time companion, Barbara Waltrip.
