Mr. Alan Michael Balcom, Age 73 passed away Tuesday, July 16,2024 at Trinity Health Muskegon,MI. Losing his battle with cancer. Alan was born in Muskegon, MI. on October 15,1950 to Avery and Nilah (Stout) Balcom. Alan graduated from Whitehall High School in Whitehall, MI. in 1969. He was a veteran of the Michigan Army National Guard, Montague, MI. he served as a heavy equipment operator. Alan was employed at Hitchiner Manufacturing Co., Inc, Milford, NH retiring in 2012, prior employment was Howmet Aerospace, Whitehall, MI. for 37 years. Alan then shared time living in Florida and Michigan with his wife Lois, He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed reading, traveling with his wife Lois, nature walks, riding his electric bike, listening to music going to the casino, and mostly loved spending time with his family. Alan's love for his family was unconditional and beyond measure. He was an extremely proud father and grandfather.

SURVIVORS

Alan is survived by his wife, Lois (Vanderwest/Lindgren) Balcom; two daughters, Heather Balcom and Alison Balcom (Christopher Obanner); three stepsons, Kevin (Jenny) Lindgren, Brian (Jamie) Lindgren, and Aaron (Jessie) Lindgren; 14 grandchildren, LeAndre, Tashya, Tayshan, Madalyn, Myles, Jaylin, Clayton, Jacob, Aidan, Payton, Fisher, Archer, Jocelynn, Maximus; brother, Gary (Donna) Balcom; sister, Karen (Daniel) Harrington; many nieces and nephews; fishing buddies, Don, Cody, and Scott Vanderwest. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Leon Balcom and sister Susan Balcom.
